    Entry level watch 300CAD-500CAD

I'm looking for a watch to scratch my itch this holiday season and I can only feasibly spend 300CAD-500CAD max. I'd like to get an Automatic, but in that price point it may be tough so I could do with a quartz. Any recommendations? I'm really new to the scene and don't want to make a classic rookie mistake.

Head over to the Affordable forum (F71), you'll find a lot of great suggestions over there in your price range. Seiko Sumo/Blumo would also be a great option in that range, or a SARB. You'll have no trouble finding an automatic, and a nice one at that, for what you're looking to spend. Also, check watchrecon - you'll find barely used, almost new, pieces for way under retail and can get a nicer piece than you'd expect that way. Good luck!

I just received my first Seiko, the SARB 065. I would recommend this as an absolute starter, if not a must in ones collection...

What kind of style are you looking for? Any other requirements? Are you wanting to buy in-store? Okay to buy outside North America? There are tons of choices.

Casual/dressy would be my go to. From what I've read on the forums buying from a GM won't get me the manufacturers warranty so I may go to an AD. The savings on the GM seem to be crazy good, but with risk associated with it. I'd rather be on the safer side.

Not tough at all. Seiko and Orient have plenty of automatics at that price, plenty to choose from. Take your time to explore your options because the classic rookie mistake is rushing and end up buying a watch you don't really love.

casual/dressy, definitely the seiko cocktail time, or SARB033/035 seems like the obvious choices.

If you'd rather go Swiss or somewhat swiss... Tissot Visodate, Hamilton Khaki or Intramatic (might be outside your budget by a little bit). A Certina Powermatic 80 looks good too, but again might be a bit outside your budget.
