ETA Announces Two New Automatic Chronograph Movements

    Google translated from French

    http://translate.google.com/translat...Fbreve_707.htm

ETA A08.231 - 13 ¼ lignes, column wheel, with no less than 260 components

ETA 012211 C - 13 ¼ lignes with 46 hours power reserve and designed to be increased by many subsequent features (184 components), utilizes "synthetic" (plastic) components

Neither movement is intended to replace the 7750 or 2894 with DD module and the idea behind the two movements is to enable Swatch to distance its products further from Asian competitors.

I would think additional swiss movements in the market would generally be a good thing. Am I missing something?

It's an old measurement of distance/size. I don't know of anything other than watches that use it but I'm sure I'm wrong.

    Here.

Swatch are intending to distance itself further from it's asian competitors (i.e. Seiko) by producing a movement that plays catch up to Seiko's auto chronos??? (6s37 and 8r28)

    GOOD ONE SWATCH!!!

What will they think of next, to further leap ahead of Seiko and into the future of auto chronos??? A vertical clutch mechanism?

I don't think it's about Seiko at all, Seiko produces their own movements that don't at all imitate that of the ETAs. I think he refers to those Asian copy cats making replicas of their popular movements. I see it all the time with the 2824/2.

Come on Toby, not everything is about Seiko bro!
