Ever Buy a Watch and NOT Like It Upon Arrival?

Have any of you ever purchased a watch and upon arrival decided you don't like it? I don't see it as not "bonding" but rather just not liking the watch. It happened a couple of times with watches. Fortunately a friend loved one watch and had a need for one so I gave it as a gift. He loves it. But, I have one watch in the collection I simply cannot like. I never wear it, never. The only chronograph. What watch did you purchase and decide you didn't like?

More times than I care to admit which is why I only buy from retailers with solid return policies!

I'm not sure I'd admit that to myself as it implies my judgement and decision making was wrong - but I will go so far as to admit I've opened up the box and knew I'd be selling it before too long.

That's what happened with this one, a Seiko SARB017. Even swapped the strap (shown on a nice Weiss Watch canvas instead of the cheap brown leather that it came with) but it still lacked the wrist presence I had expected.

    Mediocre and justinkelley like this.

TAG Carrera 1887 chrono. Took a little haircut on the quick flip. Lesson: don't buy a watch just because it is a "good deal".

Well to each his own this proves. I wear a SARB017 on a regular basis, including today. It's on an Aritsan strap though.

Probably happened a couple of times, less often that not though for sure. Happened with a Casio Edifice - seemed like a good deal and was sapphire which is unusual for an Edifice, but didn't end up liking the dial layout and the bracelet was kinda rattly.

Even though I had read about it, I was not prepared for how awful the seiko skx's bracelet and bezel inserts were. The bracelet was off the watch 10 minutes after receiving it (put a Nato strap on it). The bezel insert I bought online and swapped it. Now I love the skx although I now have a Sumo on order which appears better finished overall.

Happened once with a Casio. Opened the box and go "oh". Put on wrist and go "hmm". Sold it the week after.
