Favorite dress watch $500-1000. Need ideas.

Need some ideas for a nice watch to wear with a suit. Here are the preferred specs:

    Brown leather strap
Not a black dial (I do not like the brown strap/black dial look)
    No Roman numerals
    40-42mm
    No divers
    Automatic or mechanical
$500-1000 used (I rarely buy new watches)
    Vintage OK

    Thanks.

Never try to install spring bars in a hurry. -lvt

"Affordable" just means you end up spending the same amount of money, but end up with a greater number of watches. -MandoBear

Perhaps a bit obvious, but Seiko SARX033 or 055 perhaps? I have the 035 and it amazes me. Just beautiful, black dial of course but the models above are white. Replace the bracelet with nice leather to further up the game.

Not my photo, just a searched reference of the 055...

By the way it fits beautifully at 40mm on my 7” wrist.

It's a skosh under your measurements, at 38mm, but wears bigger because it's all dial.

Stowa Marine Original. Only thing that's missing is the automatic part, but the hand winding movement has a lot of character. Stowa Antea would work too, bit more modern looking. Third pic is a better view of it on my 8"wrist

Pretty much hits all the marks then. Stowa Antea I mentioned above uses the same movement but looks a bit more "dressy". 41mm case size.

You can get a used Frederique Constant within your budget. Very elegant dress watches for the price.
