Favorite Watch Case - Ignore Bezel

I thought this would be a fun topic. After getting the SBGH267G which I bought mostly over the case with the cool dial as a this one choice, I'm wondering what others see as the best cases. Even of the high high high end stuff, that GS seems just a better looking case.

Not so much in terms of quality, but due to its iconic design: The Panerai 44mm cushion case.

Always loved cuahion cases, but Briston in particular as modern example I love as it's so clean, no step down bezel and lugs don't just look like they were stuck on.

Also the iconic Grand Seiko case with lugs that come straight out. They do other case designs but for most of us when we think GS we visualise this case with the Zarratsu hand applied polish, never owned one, probably never will but having seen one in the flesh, it's a true masterpiece of case work.

Lastly always thought the Cartier Balloon very beautiful. Not normally one for what might be deemed novelty elements but this case into crown cover feature just works so well.

Favorite Watch Case - Ignore Bezel

    Another shout-out to Panerai.
My 512's dial was the first thing that caught my eye, but the 1940's Radiomir case just might be the star of the show. It's a seemingly simple cushion shape, but up close it's a complex set of curved surfaces, creases and facets beautifully blended into each other.
(I don't have my 512 with me so I'll try to convince with pics already in my phone).

    On pin-cushion cases:

Yes, Panerai seems to be the stand-out for this case design and I wish more of the leading brands would bring this shape back. Various micro brands, though they have their fans...are too will-o-wisp for me. They don't have the staying power I like.

Citizen executed this in a pin-cushion case years ago then they stopped. I enjoy its uniqueness immensely.

And its not overly large like the Panerais, even with their smaller <44mm new sizes.

Just looking at my Daytona and going by pictures I’ve seen of GS it has the case finish competition all sewn up.

I think the cushion case on the Turtle is super comfortable and wears smaller than its 43mm.
