Off Topic post Finally registered, hello WUS!

Couldn't quite find a designated spot for introductions or the like, so I figured the general forum was good as any. Hello there! I've been occasionally browsing WUS since being turned onto it from some friends who got me into timepieces over at a tactical military & police forum. After making my latest acquisition, I decided that marked it a good time to register, and finally start participating, since I seem to have taken the dive headfirst into watch collecting.

I'm a former Army Infantryman, who thought it was a good plan to get out and landed at the local Home Depot selling doors. Realizing it's not all sunshine and daisies out here I'll be returning to active duty next month as a mechanic. Looking forward to that and to occasionally poking my nose into conversations with all of you.

    My collection so far...

Top to bottom, left to right....

Very top is a no-name, japan movement, walmart special. Not even proud of it but it looked nice enough for it's purpose, interviewing for jobs after the military.

On the winder is a SEIKO SKX007K2, a engagement gift from my fiance and my daily wear. I consider it my first real timepiece.

Next to that a REACTOR Heavy Water Digital, A deployment gift from my family, it held up well to a year in Afghanistan but has since suffered a failed seal somewhere, it's no longer waterproof and I haven't been able to get it back to REACTOR for repair, with that in mind it's no longer worn.

Below that is my first Army watch, a Timex Expedition I purchased from the PX in Germany as a Private, it stayed with me for 3 years until a misunderstanding with a tracked vehicle armor panel popped it off my wrist, the REACTOR replaced it, I replaced the springbar at a later time and keep it with my collection for sentiment. It's still running on it's original battery, 7 years later.

Center stage is the watch that replaced the cheapo interview watch, a TFX Men's watch, this I rarely wear. It feels cheap to me but looks nice enough I suppose.

Next to that is my latest acquisition, CASIO G-SHOCK GA100-1A1 which will hopefully have a set of adapters and a Maratac Zulu band before I head off to training. The watch itself a gift from family to celebrate my birthday, wedding, and re-enlistment to Active Duty.
Eventually I hope to acquire a SEIKO SKX009K2 with the Oyster(?) bracelet, and a Tracer, my grail right now is one of the Marathon SAR watches. (One day...)

Anyway, that's about it on me, I look forward to the time spent and knowledge gained here. Thanks guys. =)

Welcome brother. And yeah, its not all unicorns and rainbows coming back. But like anything else, pros and cons. I went back a few times until the pros of civilian life outweighed that of the army. And even then, I did some private sector work to ease the transition.

Good luck out there buddy. Stay safe.
