First Automatic Watch - Need Advice

    Hello folks,

I am in the process of looking for an automatic watch; my very first.
I've owned a number of watches and now I wear a blue face citizen eco-drive chrono.
I like it, but I've been wanting an automatic watch (with a white face).

I like the Omega Speedmaster, Longines Masters Collection, and B&M Classima series. I tend to like chrono watches, but in models I like, the big second hand doesn't move which is something I love to see since it's a continuous sweep.

So... I'm asking for rcommendations for new and used watches under the $1000 - $1500 mark; ideally under $1k. But I am open minded... I'd like something that will maintain its value if at all possible.

    Thank you in advance!!!!!!

I am in the same boat as you and am leaning towards getting an Omega Seamaster. Like you, I love chrono watches but if I'm going to spend the money on an automatic I want to see that hand sweeping all the time. I am pretty new to watch collecting so I don't really have much advice to offer. However, I feel you can't go wrong with an Omega. Good luck!

They make mechanical automatic watches that are less than $100. You should try one of those first before you get an expensive mechanical automatic watch in my opinion. I wear a mechanical automatic dive watch with a rotating unidirectional bezel, because a mechanical automatic movement will go up and down no matter what. I guess if you get a mechanical automatic chronograph. You could set the chronograph at exactly 12 o'clock and use the chronograph to tell you the actual time.
The MTG is retired and the 5600 too. Right now, the only working G-Shocks that I use and enjoy are the Riseman GW9200-1 and the GW6900-1

If I can own a Rolex Submariner I would. I know they are tough too, their homages are tough. Trust me.

Are you referring to the Seiko automatics?
Do you have a good recommendation?

I love the constant sweep of the seconds hand!!!!

I am looking at the 2220.80.00 (blue face) and the 212.30.41.20.01.002 (black face). I'm all hung up on deciding between the black and the blue. I am going to go to the Omega store at the mall near me this weekend and try both on and go from there.

It seems like most auto chrono's use the valjoux 7750 or a variant. I don't know any that have a large sweeping second hand but most have a little one. Will that do the trick?

So... in a twist of fate i just bought a Seiko SSA003K2.
My intention was to spend quite a bit more and buy a Longines or used Omega SpeedyPro, but at $188 shipped, I couldn't resist.

This is what it's going to look like when I'm done with it... :)

I think my next watch will be an omega speedy pro with a white face... I love them!!! :)

You still have enough left over to buy an Accutron Gemini 26c01:

    Accutron Gemini 26C01 Men's Watch | Ashford.com
    TAG Heuer Monaco LE|Omega Speedmaster|Seamaster 300MC|Rolex Submariner|Tudor Ranger

How did it get so late so soon?
