first post, getting into the fine hobby of watch collecting!

long story short, got very into watches about a month ago and have gone absolutely bonkers buying watches (in my own weird, stubborn manner). over a month, i've gone from zero watches to a total of eleven after today. got my first (silver timex automatic) from a local goodwill and promptly started absorbing as much info as i can and became a fan of watches (especially the day/date and lookalikes). picked up the timex dynabeat from a goodwill a few days later and decided to see what i could come across if i put in some effort. on a trip to NY, picked up the citizen mother mary to fill my gold presidential-esque niche, got home and found the timex indiglo on sale for $10. got the festina and the seiko daydate from a goodwill, went to walmart to get a cheapo band for it later that night to replace the broken one. today comes around and i'm browsing a local mall, walk into a watch shop and see a box of loose, "broken" watches behind the counter and ask the sales person to see them. i asked if i could buy some to tinker with, she puts a price of $5 a piece on anything in the box and thus i grabbed the citizen skyhawk, the guess watch, the luminox and the seiko kinetic. so far, the luminox only needed a battery to function just fine and the citizen, which i thought to be FUBAR just, to my surprise, needed a reset and all that to get it moving again. now, i'm trying my hand at restoring the citizen. i've done the crude thing of breaking the rest of the crystal to remove it for the time being to remove the loose glass that was on the dial and at this point, going to try to hunt down a crystal locally to try to replace it and continue restoring it. not really sure what to do about the bezel being so beat, but either way, i'm having a blast! if any of you want to take any of these off of my hands, i'm open to trading, especially for day-date/datejust like things. thanks!

Wow, you've really gone whole hog with your collecting!

Good to see you're doing it on the cheap....at least for now.

Welcome to the Forums!!! Try to stay with affordable watches, aka inexpensive, as much as you can because this hobby is EXPENSIVE!!!

Good for you jumping right into restoring!
It took me a couple of years to really make that leap, but now I'm so glad that I did. One of the first things you'll soon find out is that you'll need some basic tools that will soon escalate into a wide array in a dictated space in your home that will always be dirty and cluttered!
    Good luck.

Welcome to WUS. I was going to suggest that you run for it but I suspect it's too late for that already.

I usually counsel newbs to this hobby to find something else to spend (waste?) their money on, but you're obviously WAY too far gone for that. So, I'll just say Welcome aboard!
