    First "real" watch

I am in the market for a quality watch as a gift for myself after finishing college and starting a career. I am looking for a piece that can be worn daily, either with a suit or dressed down. My budget is somewhere in the neighborhood of $2000.

    My criteria:

    1. I am only looking at new watches. No used/vintage pieces, sorry I realize that this takes out some great watches but I want to be the first owner.

    2. I am looking for a watch with mechanical movement. No quartz pieces, as I own several.

    3. I would prefer a piece that contains a chronograph, though it is not 100% necessary.

I look forward to your recommendations.

Tag Aquaracer. There is a chrono version that may be in your budget, but I'm not sure.

I think this is also available with a steel bracelet.

    I like watches.

Check out the Longines Conquest. A versatile watch to meet most occasions. Also look at the Longines Hydroconquest Chronograph.

Not a chrono, but has an in-house movement. Pic stolen from ablogtowatch.com:

    Re: First "real" watch

With that sort of budget i would go for a secondhand Omega or Rolex two brands everyone knows and respects

I would rather be the second owner of a quality watch then having a lesser watch from new --
