So I went to get my watch fitted (SS bracelet) and the jeweler asked me what I thought of my new Hamilton so far (Swiss ETA movement). I told him that I'm loving it and that I'm just not sure of how fragile these things are yet. I told him the following and he was acting like I needed to get the watch checked out:
I said, for example, I wasn't sure if flipping through the dates too much was bad; I flipped through around 3 times since I've gotten it two days ago. First time was because the watch was one day forward when I got it. Second time was because after I set it I realized I was 12h off and the day switched forward at noon. Then I wasn't sure if I was between dates so I went through one more time.
Now, when I switch I had to obviously go around 30 or so times. Is that bad for the gears? The jeweler seemed to think it was a horrible thing I'd done. I certainly don't plan on cycling through again any time soon, but am curious as to how much weight I should give the guy.
