Peter and Aletta Stas are the successful husband and wife team behind watchmakers Frederique Constant. The brand is named after the great grandparents of each founder, namely Frédérique Schreiner and Constant Stas. The brand’s new Slimline Classic Automatics include the FC-306MC4S35, presented with a yellow gold plated case.

The 39mm case is extremely thin (7.7mm) and yet water resistant to 30 metres. It houses the FC-306 Automatic 25-jewel movement, with 28,800 beats per hour and a 42-hour power reserve. The internal workings of this timepiece can be viewed through the see-through case back.

The silver dial bears guilloche decoration at its centre. Functions include hours and minutes, with a date indicator at the 3 o’clock position. Roman numeral indexes lend a classic appearance to an already timeless face, and the luxurious brown croco-calf strap completes the look.

The second watch in the new Classics Slimline Automatic Collection, the FC-306MC4S36, features a hand polished, stainless steel case. The stainless steel model is offered at a retail price of just CHF 1,550, while the gold plated version costs CHF 1,750.

Not extremely thin surely, the Zenith elite dual time is 7mm and without the extra hand is slimmer still. Zenith dual time 7mm (R) Seiko Sarb 065 (L) 13mm.

i believe the zenith elite dual time is much thicker than that. but their elite ultra thins manage around the same size as this. Think you need to get into high end in order to go extremely thin =]

It is a fair watch. Fairly good design, fairly build, fairly priced. Not causing love or hate. Just fair.

Pretty good, kinda moving to a slightly more Breguet look I suppose, good look for a good competitive price, I really hope they have imporived the strap. Right now the biggest downfall of Frederique Constant is the standard croco-calf they use on everything, and its very average and they can really upgrade the look of the watch with a higher quality strap

The FC306 is I think the Sellita equivalent of the 2892

Nothing wrong with it, but its pretty standard. Then again, there are a lot of brands charging twice as much for the same movement in the same grade so I guess its fair.

I like the style, size and price. I'm kind of going through a phase where I'd prefer vintage watches over 'dress watches', but still:

Nice looking. I find the location of the minute markers a little odd.
