    Giant Seiko Divers

What is with Seiko and all their overly large dive watches? Are they incapable of making a modestly sized diver at a modest price?

I mean Rolex has a 40mm diver, Seiko divers are all like 42mm and up...even 47mm! (Except for the beautiful but expensive SLA017 at 39.7mm)

Does every guy in Japan have tremendously huge wrists?

Rant! I want a modestly sized Seiko diver in the mid range 6R type.

So true, I was backpacking Japan recently and of course looking at watches. (Japan is watch heaven). But I noticed that even though most Japanese were quite small, in the stores every diver is a behemoth. Funny enough; i saw not one Japanese person ever wearing such a gaudy over sized watch. And I live here in NYC where most watches i see I'd like to call a red card on lol

Maybe Japanese wear their Seiko divers around their ankles. I am with you about the size. I've always wanted a Seiko diver but never found one in my size - always too big!

My theory is that Seiko dive watches are actually for diving and not worn as a decorative time piece.

Well, if the lower-end 7S26 movement is acceptable, then there is the SKX013 which I believe is around 38mm.... ;)

That's why you see a lot of Rolex in Japan (to my surprise). Grand Seikos are as big and thick as your average dive watch. You rarely see them on someones wrist.

Seiko divers are not ‘all like 42mm and up’ get your self a cheap SKX013. Never large or expensive like you’ve said

Not to put words in chuasam's mouth, but the question seems to be pointed at why Seiko doesn't offer something around 40mm in the mainstream lines like the SRP Turtle. My guess is that since those are still flying out of the ADs at 45mm, Seiko doesn't feel compelled to engineer a smaller version.

The SKX at 42mm is a nice sized watch for most~ men.. some of seiko's watches are pretty big.. I feel the new turtle and samurai would have benefited greatly from being sized 42~ish mm instead of 45~

of course if you have 8"~ wrists your options are pretty wide open..47mm SRP637 here.
