Girard-Perregaux Laureato nice watch or an AP/Nautilus knock-off?

Is it me or does the Girard-Perregaux Laureato 42mm ref. 81010-11-431-11A look like the Patek Philippe 5711/1a and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Automatic ref. 1550ST blue had a baby? For some inane reason the Patek is now impossible to find at any ad in the world and is selling for 3 times itís retail price on the grey market in some instances. The AP sells for about itís retail price on the grey market and Iím not sure about its availability but Iím sure itís not too hard to get a hold of given the grey market price. The Laureato on the other hand has basically the same pedigree, looks the same and yet goes for a third of the retail cost of the Patek and even less on the grey market. Does anyone here know why? Iím actually thinking of picking one of these up ( which is why Iím so interested) but not if itís not a good watch. Iíve added a picture of the watch Iím speaking of. Thanks. Buy the way I am a newbie so if Iím posting in the wrong place or getting the ref numbers wrong please tell me. Again thanks.

Its a nice watch but for me personally not worth the money. Appreciate that value is subjective but I feel there are better options out there.

And if you have a Patek 5711/1A and are willing to sell it for a realistic price I might be game

Check out the recent Watchfinder video that explores the origins of this watch and compares it to the VC Overseas.

The Laureato is a product of its time, first introduced in 1975, one year before the Nautilus, but three years after the Royal Oak. The Laureato is overall under appreciated compared to the nautilus and royal oak, making for a great watch to buy for a (relative) bargain.

Don't know the answer and can't speak to the 5711 cause never owned one but these have done me good . . . I don't do a whole lot of thinking when I buy, if it looks good and I can afford it, in it comes. The watches are all different to me, (including the Patek), if you end up with the Laureato, hope it satisfies . . .

Thought the AP was selling for a significant premium in the gray market as well, no?

I’ve seen the AP for as much as $28,000 almost $10,000 more than it’s retail price but that’s nothing compared to seeing someone trying to sell a 5711/1A for $100,000 on chrono24.
