GMT watch ideas with $6,000 budget

    Hi Folks,

I'm new to WUS. I'd like to hear folks' opinion or suggestions on a watch with GMT functionality. My budget is 6k USD or less. In house movement would be a plus and something 44mm or smaller. I've been eyeballing PAM321, but it seems i'd have to shell a little more for a pre-owned? I'd like to hear other suggestions! Thoughts?

    Thanks!

Vintage rolex gmt? You can get the previous non ceramic versions for around that. Nice condition ones too. Plus the stainless bezels are relatively affordable. You can probably get the coke and pepsi ones as well and swap them out yourself.

What about a mint ROLEX 16700 GMT Master or 16710 GMT Master II with original box and papers etc...

I'm sure something like that would appreciate over the years too...

Or +1 for a mint GMT Master II 116710LN as previously mentioned.

Or a nice near-new Explorer II if you like that look (Personally I prefer the 16570 white dial to the new 216570), but with your budget you could get either.

This would be my pick for sure.
If you can stretch the budget, I say pull the trigger on the BLNR though.
Still love the LN! Good Luck

If you are looking to maximize GMT functionality and stare at it all day quality it will be tough to beat a GS SBGE001. It has an inner chapter ring of GMT hours as well as the traditional outer rotating bezel. This helps you quickly determine home time if you are traveling and you have the outer chapter ring set to a different time zone than home or current location, three time zones as opposed to two. (very nice for international travel) You also get a 72hr power reserve so you can take it off on Friday afternoon and pick it up on Monday morning without worrying about resetting or winding. The watch is fully in house, not just the movement, but every piece inside and out. You can pick one up brand new with warrenty in your budget (something to consider on the vintage recommendations, I live near DFW and use Timeless, can't recommend them enough). My SBGE001 runs 0.1 to 0.2 seconds fast per day. This means that since it is my daily wearer and I never let it die I only have to set the watch twice a year, to adjust the GMT hand for daylight saving time. (I keep the GMT hand on wife and kids time)

Have you considered a world time function? Nomos has a nice one with an in-house movement, will run around $6000. Probably the best in-house movement in your price range.

    Comes in White or Blue

For me the modern Rolex GMT is one of the best luxury sports watches available - gold standard or true GMT watches.

They are available new from very reputable grey dealers for $7.5K, or mint $6.5K.

My recommendation is to extend your budget a bit and get the Rolex.
