    Going Shooting Tomorrow....should I wear a quartz?

I know that golf swings can seriously mess up an automatic watch, and my newest baby is automatic, so I want to get it some wrist time. The obvious choice to wear is my G-Shock, but I'll probably wear my Hammy Scuba. What do you think? Is it safe to wear an automatic while shooting?

Oh, just for reference, I'll likely be firing a 9mm handgun, so nothing too crazy.

Mods, if this thread isn't okay, my apologies.

How did it get so late so soon?

Don't do it. I've heard more than one instance of this activity damaging an automatic movement.

Then again, I split wood with my Seiko Automatic on.... usually because I forgot it was on my wrist until I was done splitting.... oops.... Never have damaged the thing though....

    Just not worth the risk/reward.

I've shot thousands of rounds of 9mm with an auto, no problems. The hammy should be fine IMO. YMMV

The Hamilton is actually a quartz, which is why I was thinking about it over the Seiko.

I think I should err on the side of caution here. All I needed is someone to tell me to wear a quartz.

The thread is okay as long as everyone remembers no weapons pics, please.

I've shot thousands of rounds of 9mm, .40 and .45 (retired PD) wearing an auto and never ever had a problem. I wore an auto through "high speed" stuff as well where we were shooting 2500 rounds in a several day long class without issue. Don't worry about it.

That said, you need to be worrying about what's in your hand, not what's on your wrist tomorrow, so maybe you are better off not wearing an auto just so you aren't thinking about something other than what you should.

    Have fun!

Raza, I think you should wear a quartz, just in case - there you go - you've been told :)

I have shot thousands of rounds in calibers ranging from 9mm to .45 Mag, wearing mainly Mechanic watches, also a Tuning fork.

    No damage whatsoever.

My hearing is bad, as a result, though!
