gold watches on black leather straps

Now that I've got my daily rotation set, my next purchase is going to be my first "precious metal" watch. This will be something that I'll wear about a dozen times per year, to life's big events and whenever the utmost in fancy-pants attire is called for.

I'm pretty set against white gold and platinum on principle, primarily because my untrained eyes can't tell them from polished steel.

So I'm looking for pictures of gold dress watches (yellow/pink/rose don't matter) on black leather straps. Clean faces with few complications seem like an important requirement. Think "classic."

My personal budget will probably cap out at about $6k (unless things at work go unexpectedly insanely well) but please don't let that stop you from posting your personal owned or wish-to-own pieces of any price from $50 to $50k, so long as they embody the essence of a gold dress watch.

I won't be able to pull the trigger until probably late summer some time, but I want to get the research/obsession/lust process underway.

There's more as you probably know, but the OP is obviously talking about modern watches. The only modern solid gold dress watch I own is on a brown strap.

cl0r0x70: with that budget you could snag 2 or 3 incredible vintage watches with top shelf in-house movements from the 50's or 60's. I'm talking IWC, JLC, Omega, AP, VC, Longines, and even PP - the best of the best from that era. Both of the following IWC manual winds (cal 89 on left, cal 401 on right) were well under $2,000 each:

I've been tracking some VC references - nice ones, best of the ultra-thins - that are selling for $2,300 to $3,600. Picked up my JLC Memovox for $1600 which is being serviced right now and going on a black croc strap when done:

I'm not a fan of all those hairy arms.

Well. Coming in much simpler than the above ... or more 'classic minimalist' - just pure time; no split seconds; no dementia tools like date window with magnification bubble. Just pure classy and round.

I sure hope he isn't talking about Jeannie!

Okay all you members of the HAWC - let's shave our arms for the new guy.
