A good old watch repair shop in South Florida?

Hello. I am new to this forum. I am looking to identify a good reputable watch repair shop in the South Florida area (Miami/Ft. Lauderdale) for routine maintenance and regulation of automatic watches. What I would like to find is a place with a knowledgeable watch tech that will work on any type of watch and not just high end stuff where they will charge an arm and a leg to have a low end watch looked at. You know, a real watch shop, not some fufu mall jewelry store.

In the last couple of days I have called and walked into a few "repair shops" with the hopes of having a Seiko 5 regulated, only to find that either they don't know what they are doing, or they don't have the proper equipment. One told me after putting it on the thing-a-mabob (pardon the technical term) that checks the accuracy that my Seiko 5 is running just fine, when I know for a fact it is running +28/24hrs. Not the place for me!

Before you ask... no, I really don't want to do it myself. But I would like to find a place where I can develop trust in the establishment so I can bring in my watches and know that they have the chops to address any issues. Once I know they are good, I will feel better about bringing in my higher end stuff.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated!

I have this place on Bird Rd., near Tropical Park. I've taken a couple of my watches there for service & it's always been reasonable.

The guys name is Fidel, he specializes in Rolex, but will work on anything. It's a tiny little place in one of those strip malls.

    Only says "Watch Repair" outside.

Nice tip. I took him my Seiko 5 that was running +28 and the other guy had said is running fine. He put it on the machine, regulated it, and 24 hours later its running +/- 0. Dead on. He seems to know his stuff.

This is a hot tip Ocho... Thanks for the info. I'd rather drive it 20 minutes...than put it (watch) in the mailbox.

Cool, yeah, he's pretty good. He came highly suggested to me by a Rolex collector. Fidel definitely knows his stuff.

yeah, I much rather just drive to a place & pick it up......I don't really trust USPS all that much.

Re: A good old watch repair shop in South Florida?

Just an update to this thread regarding the watch repair shop in South Florida. As I mentioned in the OP, my Seiko SNK809 was consistently running 28 seconds fast every 24 hours. After having it regulated at the shop after a week of keeping track the watch is running an average of +3.5 seconds fast every 24 hours. That is pretty darned good. The SNK809 apparently likes to be worn because it is dead on to 1 seconds slow when worn. When rested over night crown down it speeds up about 4 seconds. I have not experimented with the other positions, but +3.5 is just fine for me considering this is a $60 automatic. Anyway, I thought you would like to know the tip about the shop is reliable. He's got my business.
