Got $600 to work with. Suggestions

    Greetings WUS!

I'm on the hunt for a daily driver and have $600 to work with. Things the "do it" for me are: 40mm or less size, hackable automatic, applied markers, not too chunky, color scheme that works in a casual as well as semi-formal scenario. Not essential, but I like a nice beveled chapter ring, screw down crown, decent lume. Not opposed to second hand. Would prefer swiss movement, but in the right circumstance, I'd consider Japanese.

    Thanks in advance.

    Drew

Try taking a look at Hamilton. They make some great stuff that would definitely fall into your range. Jomashop works well for inspiration.

Marathon GSAR. Tough, durable, handsome, timeless. Also great resale value.

Joma has a really good looking Hamilton Khaki Navy (automatic, 40mm) on sale for $495. Model H82335331

It's even $20 cheaper if you buy it with a steel bracelet!

Have a look at the Nodus Contrail 39. It's a 39mm explorer-style watch with 200m water resistance that'll make it it a great daily wearer. It does have the Miyota 9015, but they regulate it in 4 positions. You could spend the leftover $$ on straps.

Just be aware the because of its design the GPM’s 38mm size can sometimes make it look a little small.

I fell in love with the size of my Seiko SARB 035, so that size should work ok.
