    Got any irrational dealbreakers?

    For me:

    • Painted or chemical bluing of hands or indices.
    • Date windows next to arabics.
    • Multiple fonts of the same type (sans / serif / etc) on a dial.

I also used to have an irrational aversion to non-hacking movements, and I still do to some degree, but not enough to stop me from wearing a Patek if one ever fell into my lap.

Expensive lowbeat movements. The hoipoloy shat on me for this supposed irrational dealbreaker, but won’t spend big bucks on 21.6k or lower beats, looking at you 6r15.

"Hoipoloy?" Do you mean "hoi polloi," and if so, why would the unwashed, uneducated, common people care about watch movements?

    How much is considered expensive?

    .
That's a pretty good list right there. For me, I would add anything over 44mm. I'm sure many watches into the 50mm-plus range look spectacular on some people, but on my 7 1/2" wrist, anything over 44mm starts to look cartoonish.

I need a transparent case back and a nice looking, in-house movement. Both are probably irrational, but there you have it.

I can't think of any one "irrational" thing that will always exclude a watch for me - I always look at the watch as an entire package.
Being a quartz movement on a time and date watch is probably what I consider my worst dealbreaker, especially when they are luxury watches like an Omega Seamaster or Cartier.
But I wonder if that is really irrational? I think most WIS here will agree with me.

Watches that have to stop and then restart every second. The stopped part really creeps me out.
Now back to the previously scheduled levity...
Damn, that's a lot of pieces.

I have an aversion to Flieger style watches ..no clue why, they are perfectly fine and have interesting history..

Also, chrome finishes, non traditional lug lengths / shapes, when a date window cuts off a number, disproportionate logos, and when a watch dial has unnecessary long / extra text describing features.

If a watch has a battery in it, I hate it.
I also hate dead beat mechanical watches.
Come to think of it, hate is irrational. So I very much dislike...
