    are Hamilton watches any good?

Greetings. I am not an avid collector, but I adore my Omega 2254.50. My wish list includes a Speedy(preferably an older one) but not in the cards yet. In the meantime, I am interested in a nice Hamilton Mechanical IE: Jazzmaster collection.

I know that Hamilton uses ETA and is owned by Swatch just like Omega. My trepidation is that both of my sons own Hamiltons. One owns a Jazzmaster mechanical that 1 month out of warranty it had to be overhauled because it died. My other son has a mechanical chrono whose crown cannot screw into the case due to the threads being recessed too far. I do not have models of these pieces so I know a lot cannot be gleaned from my information.

As far as I see it my experience with Hamilton is 100% failure. I do love some of their styles and they are a great deal for the watch you get presuming it is reliable.

What are your experiences with this brand?

    Thanks!!

I don't yet own a Hammy but based on the brand's reputation I would have no hesitation in buying one.

I had one in the past and was happy with it. Just make sure you pay going rate, not MSRP.

Used to sell them, but I don't think I'd buy one.

Q: Are Hamilton watches any good?
    A: Yes.
Q: Can any watch fail no matter the brand?
A: Yes. Watches can fail for a variety of reasons usually related to being dropped, dunked, etc. They rarely fail for design or setup problems.

Where did your sons buy those Hamiltons from? I assume they bought it as "junk" pieces, broken already? Otherwise, no reasonable explanation why they wouldn't have returned them for a refund or at least for repair.

Had a few Hamiltons...decent watches for the price and nice styling.

"Are Hamilton watches any good?" = Are Ford cars any good? (Plenty of other choices but decent products for the price you pay)
    JDM FTW

My 2 ultimate grails are VFM and TOTC.

Fords, my Escort is 19 years old and still runs great. Servicing and all that.

I've had a number of Hamiltons over the years and have five or six in my current collection. I've never had a problem with any of them.

Hamiltons are decent. I have a Field Khaki and wear it about 1/3 of my time. It's good looking and reliable. No issues with it.
