    Handley Rolex question

    Hi Everyone
Thanks for accepting me to your forum
I have a question about the watch below
This was found amongst my mothers things. I believe it was my Grandmothers, I was going to be thrown out.
I got curious and opened the back to find the Rolex Prima mechanism.
it has a Handley case from what I can tell is post 1934 Melbourne Aust.
I am thinking of having it refurbished or my wife
The Question Is it worth doing up?
Is there a watchmaker in Geelong, Ballarat or possibly Melbourne that would be good for this.
There appears to be a issue with the main spring as when wound it doesn't load the spring
I know very little about watches and an informed opinion would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ian

Refurbish your wife first and if you have any cash left over sort up the watch.

    Re: Handley Rolex question

Surely it depends on how much it sings to you.

If your interest is purely financial then the cost of refurbishment would most likely far exceed its ultimate value.

On the other hand, if you like the watch for its history with your forebears and it would give your wife great pleasure to wear it and give you great pleasure to see her wear it and perpetuate that history, then refurbish it, it’s value doesn’t enter the equation.

Only you know where the balance of your emotions lies.
