Has anyone come across Official Time?

    Hi,

I've been reading through the previous posts to see if anyone has already asked this, but no-one seems to.

Has anyone come across Official Time watch winders? They have a eBay presence and the pictures of their Van Gogh range seem quite nice. I've done a Google but can't find any reviews, good or bad. Can anyone share some comments?

    Regards,

    Dave

I checked out their web site, it looks good and they say all the right things. But I can not find a base of operations location anywhere. That always sends up a flag with me. Maybe someone else will chime in that has done biz with them.

    valvestem,

I had a look over the web site as well, and was having difficulty in finding how to actually *buy* one. I get the impression it's a German outfit given the high cost of shipping on eBay.

It is indeed a very strange site. I did find a "Go Shopping" button on the terms & conditions page, that open up another page with the different categories, click on the category you are interested in, the select "Buy" and then "Checkout". But I re-emphasize that it is a strange (read I'm leery) website.

A bit of digging revealed that the web site is registered in Hong Kong. Lots of very positive feedback on eBay though.

I bought one from them based on reviews on ebay and am happy with it. The one I have is the one that holds six. Overall quality seems great and it is pretty quiet. They do ship from Honk Kong which was somewhat misleading from them stating they are a UK based company.

I have it set on a timer to run only 12 hours as it does not have settings to adjust the number of rotations. That is the only downside I see.

    jxlxr,

After reading some of the concerns people on here had about the spring not being allowed to wind down if it's being 'wound' over a full 24-hour period, that was the thing I was worried about with this winder. It sounds like you've come up with a solution By timer, do you mean a plug-in type that you would use for table lamps and the like?

    Cheers,

    D.

Yes, I plugged it into a $5 lamp timer. I have it going during the day when I am not there. As I said it is quiet but I found that at night you could hear it faintly.
