Have we ever done this before?

I know we have a lot of vintage collectors, and we have many members into modern watches - but do we have a few that enjoy both? Here's my vintage / modern combos:

    '71 Autavia Viceroy 1163 & Carrera Twin-Time from Heuer/TAG Heuer

    '66 ultra-thin & Spitfire from IWC

'70's Long Plaing & Chrono Cockpit from Breitling

Used to have this with Omega and Bulova too, but went strictly vintage with those brands. That might change when the new Accurist comes out, and after Omega has a couple years to be sure the bugs are worked out of the caliber 8500 that might once again be on the list. Wouldn't mind doing the same with VC too - funds permitting.

Anybody else out there who's as silly as me?

Sweeeet examples!!! What you do with Omega, I do with Heuer...I just don't like 99% of their Tag Heuer designes (going back about a decade)...except for their Carerra Re-releases....

I am looking for the perfect modern IWC Pilots watch (looking means not enough $ right now ) to go with my WWI IWC Pilot...

    Anyway...I'm right there with ya!

So, predictably, mine would be Zeniths. This photo is from a thread we did on the Zenith forum a while ago comparing old and new because some FrankenPrimeros appeared on Ebay with original 1969-1972 cases using dials from the 2009 "New Vintage 1969" model. There are a few tells, but the easiest is that modern dials have "El Primero" in a more flamboyant font (for more deets see https://forums.watchuseek.com/showthr...hlight=comparo)

One of the original models with this type of dial (there are two) is at left, and the 2009 homage is at right.

Old Font (from another model, but this is consistent across all early models):

I'm a big fan of modern mechanicals, however I plan to own a 1968 Seamaster. I think a vintage adds a touch of class to any collection.

My collection is a mix of old and new. What I dislike about my Vintages is that I have to be extra careful wearing one here in the Tropics, as I do not want sweat to diffuse into the watch.
I assume all my Vintages have Zero WR.

Not the best piccy, but a 70's Tissot PR516, and it's modern counterpart, the PRS516

Re: Have we ever done this before?

My collection is similar, but I don't get down to specific models. I have vintage and modern sets of all my watches. There may be one or two brands where they are no longer in existence, so it's impossible to purchase a modern watch.

How about these two (both gone now)?

    Seiko Marinemaster SBDX001
    My Father's Hamilton Khaki Automatic

My Grandfather's Movado Sub Sea Automatic
