Have you ever had a watch battery die on you when you were wearing it?

I had a Maurice Lacroix quartz whose second hand was going in 2 second intervals. I knew this meant its battery would give out soon. However just 3 days later it stopped completely when I was out. I quickly found a jeweller who I paid £5 to have the battery replaced. I think I soon sold it. It was a nice enough watch and is one I wish I had kept. But I only got around 17 months out of it before the battery died.

You never know how long a watch was sitting on the shelf (running) before you got it. I got a “new” watch, battery died in 6 months. I changed it and its been going for 3 years. A new quartz watch does not necessarily contain a new battery

The same can be said for batteries and how long they have been on the shelf. When I have purchased a battery from my local watch shop they told me to keep the receipt in the event that the battery died before one year, in which event they would replace said battery no charge.

Never had a watch battery just die when I was wearing it. They all gave ample warning.

The watch battery that died after 17 months was probably old before it was installed.

Mine usually show the seconds hand stuttering before it ides.

My quartz doesn't have an EOL indicator, but will start losing significant time overnight during the date change (like 15 minutes or more). If I see it's lost a bunch of time, that's my warning that the battery needs replacement. It'll usually run for a week or more in that low battery state.

Never had a watch die on me while I was wearing it and that battery was probably ready to draw its pension when you bought the watch.

Happened to me more than once as I almost always wear quartz. Usually you get a warning: you check the time and it is wrong. The watch is ticking but it is a couple of hours behind. You set it again but after a short while it's dead.

Never. I pay attention. Once the EOL kicks in or it shows any other sign of a dying battery is doesn't get worn until I get a new battery in it.
