Some heartening news about Zenith's pricing policy.

I came across this article today, some of you might have already read it ...

Looks like Zenith is going to be more realistic with its pricing and re-focus on its core models (El Primero and Elite) -

I've also heard that they're planning to come out with a re-design/re-issue of the legendary cal. 135

Cool article. Sounds like they are consolidating their watch lines based on best sellers, and want to be the perceived leader in entry level in-house manufacturers.

They are also adjusting prices - does this mean they are lowering prices to make their watches more accessible?

I think the pricing of the basic models is about the same as before ... well, the new ultra thin Elites are a bit cheaper than the existing Elite models, it seems like (they have the new cal. 681 instead of the cal. 680).

They seem to have gotten rid of a lot of the more extravagant (and expensive) designs introduced when Nataf was in charge. As you say, the lines have been consolidated, and the references have been reduced to 150 (which is still a huge number). We'll have to see what the new models look like when they're available at the ADs.

Re: Heartening news about Zenith's pricing policy.

So the pricing adjustment seems relative to models they have just introduced, not existing models. I wonder if they are easing us into a future price increase for the majority of existing models!?

The Moonphase Grande Date I am ordering next week was introduced a year ago - So I would not expect the pricing to go down for that particualr model. For that model, I would imagine that prices could only increase in the future. (Some companies are increasing price now to cover their costs.)
