The heat is on again - beauty vs beast

    Hi guys,

I've been watching beautiful pictures and videos and now I'm in trouble. Of course, I don't _need_ a new watch, but I'm considering..
I'm going after something yellow (pic below) or something pretty (pic more below). Probably both in the veryvery long run.

I've had a modern Omega (Speedmaster Date) and a Breitling (Colt II) before, so I'd like to think I know how the watches feel in general. Aqua Terra has been on the list a bit longer but after selling my Colt, I've missed the vulgar roughness of Breitling. Also I'm a sucker for flashy things. And then there was the latest episode of Top Gear which didn't necessarily help:

And there I was, a helpless victim of product placement and/or advertising. So, it needs to be a Breitling and it needs to be yellow. I'm not fond of Emergency or others with a digital display, though I can be proven wrong, and I'm going to buy it second hand. It could be a chrono or not. Suggestions are more than welcome.

Anyways, here's the contestant (from the internets). With 8500 and I prefer not a chrono. This one would be white and also second hand.

The question is, which one do you prefer more and why? You can see from my signature, how I roll , so please tell me how you feel about the watches above. I hope Breitling won't take too much beating just since it's a Breitling with Breitling looks.

AT is naturally more of an all-rounder, but then again I think I have those. It might even be a future classic. Revue has been my "beater" and also closest to a Breitling. Breitling would probably fit as a weekend watch, but would it be too much of an attention hooray with its yellow face and bling bezel. With a bracelet, rubber or leather - not sure yet.

So, suggestions and help to spend the money I don't have yet. Please. Pictures are greatly appreciated, as usual.
    Thanks again!

The Super Ocean has yellow inner bezel and is really nice for the price

two very different watches, I prefer 8500 over everything else in the watch-world :) nothing wring with Breitling, but I think the AT 8500 is just perfect.

8500 is something else but it also has a price premium over Breitlings - even seconds hand. And Breitling does stand out in some very different way.

I love mine. But then again, I've never been a "one watch" guy

But, if you can happy with one ... it's not too shabby

I LOVE Omega watches so that would get my vote. The new AT's are pretty amazing, and I love the pattern on the dial. Ball makes something similar so you might be able to get both!

    *not my pic

That's a nice Ball! Is that with tritium indexes like most others?
I can't justify it since it feels too much of a substitute, though.

I don't think it's particularly homage-ish. I would argue that that entire style traces back to the Datejust, although I may be wrong on the history of that. In any event, the Seamaster ATs, Rolex Datejusts, and Seiko SARBs all have that general case shape. Note though how different the case shapes of the watches actually are, especially the lugs. Obviously they both have the same striped pattern on the dial, but I don't think Omega can really lay claim to that.

I prefer the 8500 because it does not have "vulgar roughness" and it is not a "flashy thing."
