    Hello, I'm Ajax, and I'm a watch-a-holic

    Hello all,

I just wanted to introduce myself -- I'm Ajax, and I like watches. Am I in the right place?

I have waaaaaaaay too many watches, which I'm guessing is a common problem around here. I'm in the process of selling a bunch because it turns out that I really don't need 50 (or more) watches. I don't know how I got to this point. I'm so ashamed.

Seiko probably is my favorite brand, and this particular watch here is my favorite in my collection.

I'm a big fan of Hamilton, Omega, Halios and Zenith. The tri-color open heart El Primero is my grail watch. I'm also a big fan of vintage watches, particularly chronographs.

I was wearing this vintage today:

There's nothing more comfortable on my wrist than a small vintage.

If you happen to be selling a tri-color open heart El Primero, please have mercy on my wallet/my marriage/my emotional well-being and DO NOT let me know. I'm begging you: let me live.

Oh, and sorry for multiple pics of the Hamilton; I'm still getting the hang of this picture thing. Technology and I have a love/hate/despise relationship.

Welcome to WUS, but if you're a watchaholic you're in the wrong place; it would be like an alchoholic spending his time in a bar!

Welcome, Ajax. Let me tell you that there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

I've been sober from buying watches for 4 months and counting. The great thing is that most new watches no longer entice me into making purchase. Still a watch fan, but no a watch-a-holic.

Nice Spring Drive by the way.

Only five? Are you trying to pace yourself or something?

I would agree at this point. It's amazing how quickly this watch thing can get out of control. In fact, now I look at my collection and think, "Wow, how did this happen? And how quickly can I get rid off watches I no longer wear?" There's only one watch out there I want right now but it's so pricey that it will be a year or two before I get it, and I've decided that I won't allow myself to get it until I dump some more watches.

Amazingly, I only have one true diver, an Orange Monster, and one kind-of diver, a Seiko Fifty Five Fathoms. I like divers, but I just happen to like other watches more. Maybe it's because I live in a place in the U.S. that's 1,200 miles away from the nearest ocean.

That's an excellent point. Joining WUS is only going to make things worse, isn't it?
