I recently realised I am a sucker for box-crystal watches. Currently I am in the fence for a vintage looking pilot/simple 3 hander with a box-type sapphire crystal and 28.800bph. Minimalistic but not bauhaus. I have done my research but continue finding flaws in every one of the contenders, so I thought I would ask you for suggestions. Wrist is flat, 7.3 inch. Preferred size w/o crown is 38-42mm.
Price range would be preferably <$1000.
Up until now we have:
1. CW C65 Trident vintage
I really dig the anesthetics, it's 99% perfect, but I can't stand the logo on 9. I really can't. I tried.
2. Tourby Pilot automatic dark blue 40
This is close to perfect as well. I would prefer a dial with applied indices instead of the 100% sterile type A but I can do with that as well. Problem here is the price point mainly (€1350)
[3. Box sapphire Bauhaus watches. I used to like them a lot, but after handling one in person I felt like they look much better on their own than strapped on a wrist.]
[4. Box sapphire diver watches. I already enjoy the ETA BBN far too much. That's the main reason I need a new contender for wrist time ]
[5. Cocktail time/presage - no sapphire or 28.800]
So my questions are: Do you know of any watch that fits the description in this price range? Can any other watch be modified with a box sapphire? Should I wait for the next logo change by Christopher Ward? I'm not in a particular hurry.
Thanks in advance for your recommendations. If you can't help me with this no one else can.
