Help dating a Hamilton 992 model 3 cased pocket watch

I have recently inherited a Hamilton 992 white gold filled model 3 cased pocket watch. Movement serial# 2402320 case s# 204752. Does any one have any idea what year this watch may have been finished by hamilton? And how to tell if it's case is a mate to the movement?

Here are two links that will give you the production date and other information for the movement. A picture of the case including descriptive information on the inside could help identify it.

Thank you for the link. The watch is a 21 jewel 5 position double roller with a gold wheel in the center. It also has a bold Gothic face. The main wall I'm hitting is most cites have approximations of production dates. I'm hoping some one has access to a finishing list for hamilton.

Looking at these 2 links I see 2 different dates of production. This is a great example of what I'm running in to.

Their are also 3 tiny inscriptions on the inside of the case back. I don't have a loop but they look like names or numbers or maybe a mix of both.

It also appears to have ruby jewels and gold around the jewels. I hope all of this means something to some one. Because I'm so confused by the conflicting time lines on line. And know nothing about the inner workings of watches.

I am a retired watchmaker from a southern pacific service center. Worked on a lot of these.. The ? to jewel's with the gold that’s called GJS ( gold jewel setting) so you said it very well for a guess. Now off the top of my head. I would say if there is a letter c in front of the 240---- that put her in the ww2 range of watches maybe made in 44-45.. but could have been sold after the war.. Look closely or better yet post photos. An how wonderful to have a white gold case find. Enjoy Peter

There are no letters in the serial# and the sites on line date it from 1926 to 1931. I'd like to find the exact date of manufacture. The problem is I have no access to finishing lists. And unfortunately I can't post pics atm. BTW are white gold cases rarer than yellow gold?

Hamilton movement 2,402,320 went to the Finishing Room sometime between 5/18/1926 and 7/31/1926. Without actually seeing the movement in the case I can't be 100% certain but it's likely that your case (no. 3) is original as most (not all) 992s were factory cased by 1924. The date info is from Hamilton Factory Records.

THANK YOU RON! I will put up some pics when I get a chance. Do you have any idea why I can't find any examples of Case model#3 in white gold fill on line?
