    Help finding a moonphase watch

I am looking to pick up a moonphase watch, but most of the ones I have seen have several complications including date, day, chronograph, etc. What I am really looking for is a very simple, plain moonphase watch with primarily just the time and moonphase. Hoping to keep it under $3000. Any suggestions?

One of my favorites is the Engineer Moonphase from Ball Watches. Just time, date and moonphase. Definitely in your price range.

That's bigger than my budget. However, I really like the 8651 (japanese made) Citizen Calibre moon phase watches. They are a bargain... and in my opinion are attractive. This post is really for someone that wants a watch for under $200 that is a moon phase.

Some years ago Seiko made a number of moon phase watches (I don't recall the movement number.). You should be able to find a nice example for well under $200.

On the other hand . . . I can wear another watch!

Cant go wrong with a BALL
Judging from his current collection (and his limit) im guessing he is looking for something higher end.

Get lucky and you can score one of these in mint condition used for under $3k. IMO nothing else even comes close to how beautiful the cal 1866 is esp. at this price range.

Re: Help finding a moonphase watch

There was a Seiko Spring Drive with just a moonphase for around that price. That might be something to look at. I agree with the person that suggested Maurice Lacroix.

The problem you have is that most of the moonphase watches are based on the Valjoux 7751 which has all that other stuff on the dial. You might look at vintage watches which frequently had more straight forward moonphase designs.

So what difference does it make, whether it's 20 minutes or 20 years, since neither amounts to the faintest echo of the tiniest whisper in the thunder of time.
