    Help..... have I killed my seiko 5

    Took movement out to replace crystal for sapphire
    Trying to reassemble but movement not starting. Even out of the case

    gutted
    looks like the second hand is brushing against the dial
    must be damaged

    The 7S26 will not hand wind so unless you put it back together in the case and shake the rotor you can't power the mainspring. I don't know why you took the rotor off but it may not be engaging the winding gears when you re-install it. Finally, I don't know if it will operate with the crown removed.

    yes - I think I have made things worse for myself
    plus I took off the balance wheel - as it looked like something might be 'jammed'
    and now I have lost the little screw

    so yea -ive screwed it right up

    nice new sapphire......without a watch to go into#be cheaper to buy a new seiko5 than get this fixed I reckon

    I don't think the patient is going to survive....

    Don't feel too bad, damage during modding is pretty common. I would buy the cheapest 7S26 powered watch you can find and swap out the movement and hands.

    Just buy a new watch like the one you had or move on to a different design. Because of the risk of damage don't bother swapping a donor movement from another watch.
