Help me choose: Cartier Santos vs. Rolex Datejust 41

Hi everyone, I’m about to hit a personal/professional target and want to commemorate it with a new watch.

I have other watches, but this new watch will become part of my “dynamic duo” — my Rolex SubC ND (as sport watch) and ________ (as my dressy sport watch).

I love them both. Both fit great. Both have the cache, sparkle, and size I desire in my dressier watch.

    The contenders are:

Cartier Santos with blue sunburst dial

Or the Rolex Datejust 41 with sunburst blue dial, smooth bezel, and jubilee bracelet

And here’s the other half of this duo, my SubC ND (purchased new in 1/18)

The Santos, definitely. Very sharp, but has a nice understated quality. Will be a good partner for your Sub. (I missed that they'd introduced a blue-dialed version of the Santos!)

Couldn't be better choices, I'd have to go with the Cartier just to mix it up a bit from your Rolex Sub . . . . but you'd be just fine I think with the DJ, nice problem to have.

Going to be the contrarian and say get the Rolex OP. The OP wears great on the wrist and I just do not like the santos case. Good luck!

One of the hardest decisions I would have to make. I owned the datejust II in blue, I also came very close to getting the Cartier Santos. When they announce the Cartier Santos in blue, I almost thought that would be a watch I would sell my datejust for to pick up because I love the look of the Santos and combine that with the blue dial and maybe it would be I must have.

In person, however, I did not really love the blue Santos. The dial was darker than I thought and I didn't like the applied indices. If you are open to the white Santos, I think I might do that over the datejust. Otherwise, I would go with the blue datejust.

I would switch it up a bit and go with Cartier Santos’ blue sunburst dial and its exposed screws in the bracelet and bezel.

All nice but I'd back all the way up and get the Sub in Ceramic with a date. Then I'd be done with this whole segment. Good luck in whatever you choose though. :^)
