Help me choose: Hamilton Ultra-matic vs Longines Heritage 1973

Torn between these two pieces and figured I would get the asylums opinion as well.

Hamilton retail is $2195 and the Longines is $3250. I have a 7" wrist and am looking for something I can dress up or down to go with sweaters and jeans/slacks. I currently have about 8 total pieces ranging from El Primero to a Black Bay. I also have the true dress watch covered. Just looking for something different to explore.

Tough one. I'd have to go with the Hamilton. One of their best models.

I love both the Longines and the Hamilton... donít think you can go wrong with either of them. The Longines features a column wheel chrono movement which would give it the nod for me, as long as the price difference isnít a deterrent. I own and really like the 42mm Intramatic LE (pictured here), but I would go for the Longines.

They are in different categories, model and watchmaker, separated by over $1k. I'll go with the number 4 watch brand in the world every time. ...and it'll suit your criteria you mention above. It fills the gap between the EP and BB very nicely. Go on ahead and get the Longines!

I vote for the Hammy. Iíve always loved that model. Also, I donít like the date window on the Longines, and I gotta like it all to spend that much.

Like both brands but the Hamilton has it on looks alone.

Voted Hamilton for the black outer-ring and the location of the date window. Much nicer to look at.

Thank you for the input so far everyone. I appreciate it very much. I feel like the Hamilton is great bang for the buck and has an amazing look. I like the Longines due to the unique case design. The date location is normal to me given my Zenith is the 38mm with the 4:30 date window.

Has anyone tried on the Longines? How does it compare to a Monaco? I have always loved the look of a Monaco but have never pulled the trigger due to the case feeling awkward on my wrist. I am hoping my local AD has it to try on.
