Help me decide on a Grand Seiko

I'm looking at three mechanical Grand Seiko models in the 37mm case size:

    SBGR053 (black, gloss dial)
    SBGR089 (dark brown, textured dial)
    SBGR073 (blue, sunburst dial)

Which of these would you get and why? The black dial is the most classic and probably most versatile, but the colored dials are unique and add more flavor. I'm torn!

For reference, I would be adding it to my current collection of:

    Nomos Tangente (white)
    IWC Pilot's Chronograph (black)
    Tudor Submariner (black)
    Tudor Date Day (silver)
    Omega Speedmaster (panda)
    Heuer Carerra Re-Edition (black)

Black. I know it's boring and "safe", but that one is really clean. If you want some color or more interesting dials, I'd look at the Snowflake, or that 40mm in blue with the gold seconds hand.

Upvote for the brown. Beautiful dial and could probably go with a lot of casual clothes.

The SBGR073 is definitely the one for me, followed by the classic SBGR053. I have a thing for blue dials, though.

Tough choice between the SBGR089 brown textured dial and the SBGR073 blue sunburst dial. However, the SBGR073 blue sunburst dial would be more versatile of these two.

I would go with a textured dial, that is one feature of GS that I like, it adds depth and is always interesting to look down to your watch.

Reluctantly I picked the black dial. I prefer the brown and blue dial, but I find it inexcusable to have white date wheels with coloured dials at this price point and supposed attention to detail.

Sbgr073. You don’t have a blue dial and I like it best

You need a watch with a blue dial.

I have seen the brown one up close and like Barge said the date window looks terrible even from some distance. It was the first thing I noticed which is a shame because a no-date version would be great but I suspect that that is not going to happen.

Re: Help me decide on a Grand Seiko

It's between the brown & blue tor me, those seem to lean to the dressier side of things, I would go brown because it's the more unusual color (I have a SARW019 CHOCODIAL) so I might be a little bias, but blue is a very common color. I have 4 blue watches as I'm thinking about this I think the brown would be more special dressed up but not glaring like a blue one.
    Final answer... Is.... Brown!
