Help me find a dressy watch around $300-$500

Hey everyone, I am looking for a dressy watch around the price range of $300-$500. I prefer a bigger case diameter, anywhere between 40-46mm and I don't mind if it is a little thick, upto 14-16mm. I prefer a stainless steel band but any strap is fine. I prefer automatic movements, god knows when was the last time I owned anything other than an automatic. I have been looking around but can't find anything. I know you guys are highly knowledgeable and know your brands, so hit me with some!

I have my eye on this Citizen Eco Drive but never really owned a Citizen before. Any thoughts on this particular model?

This comes into your budget. It's Eco Drive and radio controlled, minimalist and analogue - if you travel or have friends abroad - switching time zones is a breeze too. There's another post on here where Costco are selling the all black version at a great price.

I'm not sure what you mean, precisely, by "dressy" but, you won't go wrong with a Citizen. Especially in that price range. You might also check out forum favorites such as the Hamilton Jazzmaster line and some of the Seiko offerings in both quartz and mechanical. If you haven't dug through the archives, you might also find some ideas in the following threads:

That Citizen does not look very dressy, it actually looks sporty and would probably not be something you would want wear with a suit, maybe not even business casual. If I had $500 for a dressy watch, I would grab the Seiko 'Cocktail Time' SARB 065:

Yeah my fear was that the citizen was a bit too sporty. However, so far the recommendations has been awesome! Thank you everyone!

Yeah, I'd look at the Seiko SARB series, as suggested above. Many are 37-39mm, but the Cocktail Time is 40mm. I hear it's a little thicker than most dress watches and wears larger than the size suggests.

If you want something a little sportier, I'd look at the Hamilton Field Auto or the Hamilton Khaki King.

How did it get so late so soon?

Well there's 'dressy' and 'dressy'. This is my most 'formal' Citizen. 5mm thick and Eco Drive solar powered.

There's 'dressy' and 'dressy'. This is my most dressy Citizen watch (actually it's my most 'dressy' watch period).

Only 5mm thick and Eco Drive solar powered. The photograph (Citizen's) does not do it justice.
