Help me with my watch selection!

I've been saving up for a graduation gift for myself (something in the 1-3k range), (last semester of graduate school, and studying hardcore for the comprehensive oral exam).

I've been interested in the following watches,
    1.) nomos orion

    2.) christopher ward c9

    3.) longines heritage 1954

    4.) longines flagship heritage

5.) maurice lacroix phases de lune

btw..my holy grail watch is the JLC MUT MOON 39. =)

What are people's thoughts, I'm leaning towards the orion. Even though its pricier, i appreciate the in house movement, and the smaller watch companies.
What would you guys pick and why?

I'm concerned about the nomos small diameter (35mm) as well.

    Thanks guys!

I think the Nomos is the class of the bunch, though if you plan on getting the JLC anytime soon I would choose something less dressy since the JLC and Nomos are visually similar. The Nomos at 35mm is a good size for a dressy watch, so I wouldn't worry too much about that unless your wrist is, say, 7.5 inches. I wouldn't call the Orion an everyday watch, but you could always pick up a Seiko diver or something else reasonably priced to wear in more casual settings. Best of luck with finals.

I like the Nomos (but is too small IMO) and the longines flagship heritage.

And excellent choice on the MUT Moon - they are beautiful --- one day!!

What about designing your own custom watch through Blancier?

I’m assuming with the JLC being a grail, it’s not an option right now. Going on aesthetics and history alone, I would go with the Longines Heritage 1954. It’s a beautiful watch in person and the two Longines that I own I’m very happy with in terms of accuracy, looks and build quality. And there’s something to be said (albeit maybe very little) for a brand with some history behind it.

The Nomos, at 35mm, is too small for my tastes. I understand that it’s the classical size for a dress watch but being a child of a different era, the smallest I personally like to go is 39/40mm on my 7” wrist.

Orion now and JLC when the time is right.

Although Longines Flagship looks pretty sweet too...
