It's been made as a private label item for Harry Belknap who was likely a VT jeweler. Picture of the movement needed to identify the maker. The serial number on the movement is the important one.
Looks like Harry was in business around 1890 from some Internet research.

A picture would definitely be helpful.

I plugged the serial number into some databases, and the closest match I came up with based on what you've provided is a Hamilton 974. I don't think this is correct, though, since I don't recall ever seeing a 974 marked "safety pinion." So, I don't think that's it. Plus, a 16 size watch would be quite a bit larger than a half dollar. They're about the size of a dollar coin.

It's always possible, too, that it's Swiss.

I know Hampden made a fair number of jeweler branded pieces as well. I guess we'll wait and see what the movement looks like.
ETA: Looks like the New York Watch Case Co. was in business from 1863 till ca. 1891, so that fits in with the 1890 scenario.

That serial number for Hampden corresponds to a 3/0 7 jewel unadjusted movement. Of course, the available data can be(and often is) wrong, but based on the available information, I don't think it's a Hampden.

Size: 498.7 KB I'm also wondering of the metal content of this watch. There are not the usual markings for plated or solid....? Also like to possibly get this restored.......No clue where to go....
