High Range Watch Brands Ranking and Opinnions

I read so many things about who is considered a high range brand and who is not. I just want to discuss with you guys which brands are considered real High Range brand of watch, who is under and who is above.

For example, Tag Heuer is considered High Range or Prestige/luxury?

Imo a high range watch will be between Tag, Longines, Baume, Ball, Oris, Rado, Nommos and some others who I forget now.

Omega and Breitling are considered as a luxury/prestige?

If by high range you mean at the top of the heap for watches, then no, Tag, Omega, Breitling are not. None of the ones you mentioned are anywhere near the top, but they are all good brands. That high range position is held by companies like AP, ALS, PP and a few more.

I had a post written up here already. But I forget largely what I said when the computer crashed.

Suffice to say this - I don't like looking at watches as being located in some rigid hierarchy. Concepts like 'luxury watches', and 'prestige watches' and 'high end watches' detract from what I find enjoyable about watches as a whole - their design. Their history. Their mechanical ingenuity. It turns them into just one extra aspirational object for ladder climbing status seekers to cling on to, and flash in front of their friends.

A search will reveal many results on this topic. No, none of those brands would be considered "high end" or "prestige". They are all low to mid range, in the grand scheme of things.

Popular high end brands include, but aren't limited to, Patek Philippe, Audimars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, A. Lange & Sohne, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Breguet. There are many more, but these are some that get the most discussion around here and are most popular.

    I agree with this.
Unlike say physics, a science, watch choices have large deal of subjectivity to them. We all find beauty in different things. It's more akin to art.

Maybe we need a WIS/WUS hierarchy and a regular joe on the street hierarchy, lol.

Since most people outside of us watch nuts consider watches in the $2k range to be high end, and that is far from our criteria which involves many facets not just price.
