    'Homage' watches from M&S

Whilst browsing in Marks and Spencer a few days ago I was interested to note that they had expanded their range of watches significantly.

If these designs had been produced in a back-alley in Hong Kong they would be labelled as fakes. I'm sure M&S would rather have us think of them as 'homages': http://www.marksandspencer.com/Watch...elated-items-3

Some easy ones to spot: http://www.marksandspencer.com/Autog...qid=1299893116

I actually quite like the bezel colour on that last one.

I guess they are produced by the same people that supply the back street guy in HK.

Homage yes, knockoff no. M&S own watch with their own dial, style similar or close to similar to other watches but not claiming to be anything other than that plus people's distaste for the watch with the similar design fits WUS criteria of a homage watch. It's up to the consumer to due diligence before making the purchase. For the average joe, they would get this watch because it looks nice and tells time, they are generally oblivious if it looks like another watch. We have the problem of critizing every little thing on a watch here. Just my .02.

While I agree with you for most of their models, the digital sports model is a straight up knockoff of the Riseman.

These aren't just any homages, these are M&S homages.

(You have to be in the UK to get that one).

Can't spot any real homages ! I do see copies and look-a-likes of good selling patterns.
    Kind regards

I love the G-Shock rip-off. (Yes it is a rip-off if they copy the design of a functioning aspect of a watch, yet it doesn't function.)

I assume it's supposed to say "SPLIT" instead of "SPUT".

The G-Shock-styled watch even has a nice big 'G' on the front :)

M&S is not what it used to be.....

I expect them to start selling Black Forest style Smoked Ham, made in UK soon, instead of the Real Deal.

They do that in the US. Made in US. With added water and a lot of other stuff.
With a German Flag on the package.....

    Hommage? Copy?
