How To Buy The Right Size Watch! by RMRS!

People have linked RMRS before, but here is the full guide to picking the right size watch by RMRS.

    5 main criteria:

    1-Watch Case Diameter

    2-Watch Case Thickness

    3-Watch Band Width

    4-Watch Band Material

    5-Watch Details & Components

Thanks for posting, buy honestly, I don't get these guides; these things may work for someone who has never tried a watch on before and is buying for the first time the latest fashion watch on sale from a catalog along with their first tie and belt etc.

In real life, the best guide is to try a watch on, and be happy with it.. Specs on paper mean nothing if its not comfortable to you, and most importantly of all if you don't like it!

Yeah. I just see so many posts of people unsure whether the watch is too big or too small.. There are other factors outside the ones listed, but this seems like a good guide for someone buying their first watch.

Trial in real life definitely beats any guide. Besides, lug to lug distance is just as important if not more important than case diameter, something not mentioned at all in the guide

Yep. Lugs shape and lug length isn't mention. This guide is targeted towards people who shop online.. or who may not know how a right size watch would even look like on their wrist. Scroll down the WUS Public Forum and you'll probably see 2-3 posts about watch size.

That guide, and RMRS watch advice in general, is for people who are not into watches at all. As such, it's a valuable resource for the general public and, imo, a great work at that.

Thing is, the people visiting WUS have already sussed out all these rules and far more niggles/variations/minutia.

According to the guide, a small wristed man like myself, should be wearing a 38mm with a thickness of around 6-8mm.

The reality is, where do you find a watch that's 38mm and within that thickness in this day and age? Doesn't make much sense at all if you ask me. WUS or not!

One of my favorite Rolexes . I've gotten a chance to try the 216570 and the 16570... the 40mm fit a bit better, but I like that orange gmt hand way more even if it's 42mm. Guides be damned.
