How can I respect my lecturer (professor) who wears a G-Shock to work?

Firstly let me say that I like G-Shocks, they are cool and have their place in the the world, but wearing as a university professor is completely inappropriate, they are for outdoor activities not the workplace. How can I take him seriously when he doesn't dress as if this is a remotely formal situation? Worse off is that this lecturer is actually my course director. This is in the United Kingdom where appearances and the way one presents himself matters quite a lot, probably a fair bit more so than in the United States due to the remnants of the class system. University is supposed to be preparing us for the workplace and these lecturers really are not up to scratch, the environment is not professional enough especially as I am studying finance.

People may respond to this by saying that all that matters is his ability as a lecturer, well I can say that that is not up to scratch either, multiple times I have found him to give us incorrect or misleading information.

    not sure if serious...

Why would a professor not wear a G?
To most people - watch is a time-telling tool. So I would not care if someone wore a Gshock... whether professor, or banker or CEO or president

Let me see, how to respect a lecturer who wears a G-Shock?

It might be respect worthy if he coordinated belt and shoe color to his watch band color. Does he do that?
Does he know how to use all of the G-Shock functions? I'd give some respect for that.

I couldn't agree more. This only scratches the surface of what college students are like these days! Tomorrow's leaders...right!

Yes it is serious, I went a little of topic by venting some of my other university frustrations. So if a G-Shock is acceptable, how about sneakers?

The problem is the rotten education system, starting from a young age.
