How do you organize your collection?

As my collection grows and changes I've been wondering how to organize everything. I have always kept organized by Brand. Wondering what others do - Brand? Type? Vintage? Size?

If you don't own more watches than you can remember when ask what you have it isn't a problem. All my watches came with very nice watch storage boxes so any watch not being worn (4) of them are put in the box they were sold with. Organizing......... ?

    Chaos is a ladder.

The strongest and best watches survive and climb onto my wrist.

I take my watch off and usually set it on top of my watch box. It often joins one or more of its cousins sitting up there. If I actually put a watch back onto its pillow, I'm likely to forget about it for weeks on end.

Good question, I'd be curious to hear more people chime in.

For me, I have all my pre watch obsession (quartz) watches in one box that's back in my closet somewhere, and all my mechanicals out on various surfaces (desk, dresser, coffee table), organized by vintage, divers, and dress. No chronographs yet, but hoping soon...

A nice partitioned leather box has a separate suede pillow for each watch. Watches are rerurned to any unused pillow. No order.
