How much do you baby your watch and how?

Do you always feel need to protect your watch and worry about it like I do?

Always on the lookout for door knobs and jams. Take if off while doing any labour and very mindful of servicing.

Depends on the watch. The Sub gets knocked around; the Grey Side I'm surprised I don't wear with bubble wrap.

I have to admit that I tend to avoid buying unlined jackets with zippers or buttons on the cuff, since the metal parts can scratch whatever watch I'm wearing.

Not much but I wear long sleeves and enjoy cracking up the AC so it's not like there's a lot of opportunity for mishaps.

Honestly, unless I'm wearing a PM piece where metals are softer, I really don't baby my watches at all - I think most here might call what I do abuse! Other than trying not to hit them unnecessarily I don't really watch out for much and wear most pieces while cleaning / sleeping / living and wear select pieces while camping / hunting / fishing. I can't count how many times my GMT has been nicked on a rock while camping or had bird entrails coating the entire piece.... I'm like a WIS nightmare

I'm more aware of door knobs and anything magnetic but apart from that no. I don't wear my speedy pro when swimming, I will wear my BLNR though, I rinse it under the shower after I'm done in the pool though. I actually prefer not to shower or bath in my watches though, not because I think the watches may get wet but because I feel I can't dry my wrist properly whilst wearing a watch and the water under the watch bracelet has made my skin come out in a rash before.

Yes and no. I am careful not to expose my watches to conditions that would pose... to coin a phrase... a clear and present danger. However, I do not hesitate to wear my watches liberally. Just yesterday someone posted that he would hesitate to wear an Omega Planet Ocean to the beach for fear of damaging it. Seriously? Its a dive watch! I can't get behind that type of thinking. Years ago I owned a Rolex that I was so afraid of damaging it did more time in the box than on my wrist. I swore that would never happen again! My Speedmaster spends most of its time on my wrist. That is as it should be. I guess this begs the follow-up thread... "Scratches, calamity or character?"

Like most, if the job entails manual types of labor, I won't wear anything that is polished. I will generally wear a Damasko or some sort of beater while doing yard work, wrenching etc. With that said, I do not worry about scratching and such while normally wearing any of my watches, even the highly polished ones. If it happens it happens, but I do still try to remain cautious of course. I just gave up on worrying about scratches long ago. Watches are meant to worn and enjoyed, which means scratches and scuffs will happen.
