You should pay exactly what you think the watch is worth.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with your front end. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with your rear end. Horsepower is how hard you hit the wall. Torque is how far you move the wall.

Market value dictates how much I'll pay for a used watch. If said watch is selling for $3k and someone wants $4k, no way. Age and condition obviously factor in, so prices will fluctuate a bit.

    I'll Answer the Question :)

To make it worth buying over new, I have to save 30% minimum.
Most watches I've purchased used were about 40%-50% off greymarket price which is already lower than AD.
If someone is asking 25% off AD, why bother? Just buy new grey.

Hard to say, some watches hold their price better than others. I generally expect at least 25-30% less than the going price for a new version. Some go cheaper, though.

Depends if you can buy it new or not. If the answer is yes, the value is substantially lower. If the watch cannot be purchased new because it has sold out or was a limited production model, then the price might even be higher. But like the post says above, the price is what people are willing to pay. Otherwise it doesn't get sold.
    Lots of dive watches.

    Well it depends imho

    + brand
+ availability on the 2nd hand market (is it rare, eas it a limited edition)
+ excellent condition with bos and papers or without
    + mechanical, quartz ?

The GO Flieger Chrono I bought some years ago is currently sold for more I paid.
The GO with GUB 10-30 I bought in 1994 for about 500 German Mark is now abvout 1200 Euro on the net. So it really depends on the watch......

Half to two-third of the value in most cases IMO.

I usually offer 50-60% of MSRP for a pre-owned watch in pristine condition (assuming it isn't rare or difficult to get), if the offer isn't accepted I usually pass. My rationale being, most watches are available new for 25% off MSRP or so and I think a 25% discount from that is reasonable for pre-owned watches, therefore 75% of 75% of MSRP or ~56% of MSRP.

The vintage market is a different ballgame.
