How old were you when you bought your first "legit" watch?

Hey guys, so how old were you when you bought your first quality timepiece? I'm sure many of you started off wearing some cheap watch that you got as a gift as a kid, but obviously at some point you decided that you needed to step it up. At what age did you start looking for a timepiece with actual horological value? And by that I don't mean an expensive 1000$ watch that you saved months for, I mean any watch that isn't a cheap wal-mart brand garbage piece. Could be a 100$ seiko, could be a 500$ tissot. When and where did you start?

For me, my first watch purchase was less than a week ago: The Seiko SKX009 was my first at 160$, and I'm currently 18 years old.

Very interested to hear when you guys got into this.

I was 21 and I asked as a gift a Seiko Flightmaster. It was my only watch when I attended university.
It was worth something like 660€ of today, and it was from a professional lineup, bought from AD not the ordinary cheap Seiko at the mall. I remember it was advertised with pilots as a target market.

Sadly it was later stolen, and then I discovered WUS, in my quest for a new (possibly even better) pilot watch... sometimes I'm tempted to buy one again, but then I realise it wouldn't be the same thing.

    Rolex Milgauss at 40.

For 15 years prior to that it was a Tag F1 that my girlfriend (now wife) gave me.

I bought my first GLYCINE Airman 1968. At that time I think they were like $100.00 in Germany.
Then my ROLEX GMT 1969. They were only $200.00 back then, I was in Vietnam.

28 and it was an Orient Ray. I no longer have the Ray and since then I have slowly stepped up the relative quality of my collection (see signature).
