How to remove sticker on caseback...

Sorry for the newbie question...just purchased an Oris Artelier Complication yesterday (my first automatic watch!). Anyways, the back of the watch is a see-through mineral glass caseback, but there is a sticker (barcode) stuck to the back. What is the safest way to remove it? Can I just scratch it off with my fingernail, or might this scratch the caseback?? TIA!
    Just starting my watch collection...

it should peel right off. if any residue is left behind, use a lemon plege wipe to get it off.

Peel it off with a fingernail. You'll be fine.

I once received a dive watch (Bernhardt Instruments - Binnacle). I went to clean some dirt off the case back with a fingernail. I scratched the hell out of the case back. Man, was I confused and bummed out, all at the same time. For a week I walked around angry with myself. Then, I accidentally discovered that there was a (very hard to see) plastic sticker on the caseback. That's what I hacked up, not the watch itself. Peeled it off with a fingernail and viola! beautiful caseback all over again! Talk about feeling like a knob.

If you can scratch the caseback of a dive watch with your fingernail, you have seriously tough fingernails!

I use a bit of WD40 on a terrycloth rag to remover sticker residue from watches, car windows, and DVD cases. (It's the safest thing to use on clear plastic CD and DVD jewel cases because it doesn't "cloud" the clear plastic)

This may not be safe for your watch, but here's a household tip to remove any remaining residue from a sticker you've either removed or partly removed...

Smear on some Peanut Butter and let it sit for awhile. The remaining residue and sticker should come right off.

No need to deal w/ the peanut butter....a paper towel w/ vegatable oil on it works fine. Just rub it off, or let it sit on the residue for a bit if it is stubborn. It's also better if you have peanut allergies in the house

I did the exact same thing. I was all upset that I put this huge gouge in my nice see-through case back, but it was just a clear plastic film they had put over it, haha.

Heck, even Goo-Gone should take off any remaining residue from the sticker. Most of my watches do not have exhibition backs but many do have some sort of protective sticker on the back, or a static cling sort of thing, which is preferred for it's lack of glue. Oh, and nice buy on the Oris!

    For the sticky residue:

    1. Acetone/nail polish remover rubbed on with a kitchen towel.
    2. Duct tape/packaging tape. Press and pull. Press and pull.

No vegetable oil, WD-40 or stuff to clean up after.
