Thats tight! I wear mine loose, probably a little to loose. I need my bracelets looser than my straps for some reason. Larger watches (43mm+) I wear tighter but still loose, mainly so I do not smash them into things as easily.
Better to regret something you have done, than something you haven't done...

Ideally,i'd like the watch to fit nicely without it shifting but if it's too tight,i prefer wearing it loose. 1 way i know when it's too tight is when my wrist feels tensed or restricted by the watch when i bend my wrist upwards. From there,i'll just go 1 notch looser.

Bracelets so that it will slide up and down yet not roll on my wrist. In the winter this equates to about 1", but in the summer about 1/2".

With a strap I wear it a little more tight/snug than with a bracelet, but then again it's easy to adjust a strap while out and about.

To be comfortable, my watches must pass the "Pinkie Test."

The first joint of my pinkie finger must be able to pass through the bracelet or strap at the clasp or buckle. When it does, it's perfect.

Tight enough so it doesn't slide along the wrist. I hate it when the watch moves on the wrist - some people just let the watch dangle there completely loose. Argh!!
    Lots of dive watches.

Irritates me, too. If it dangles too much I can get fixated on it and all I can think about is ripping it off their wrist., did I just do that?
I also prefer the pinkie test. That way its not too tight or too loose.
