Hudson River Watch Company - new Kickstarter venture

Stumbled across this one today: Hudson River Watch Co by Robert Willis — Kickstarter.
I have no affiliation whatsoever, I just like some of the dial designs. With an ETA quartz movement and sapphire crystal, the $225 Kickstarter intro price seems about right to me. I dig the "Berry Street" model.
    Thoughts?

Hudson River Watch Company - new Kickstarter venture

Love to see people with a passion for watches throw their hat in the ring.

Some of the dials (the funkier ones) seem like they are truly original. Case design reminds me a little of Chris Ward. New York theme is a nice idea.

Eventually, you hope they move into some models with mechanical movements.
Main Rotation: ROLEX SubC 116610 / OMEGA Speedmaster 3750.50 / OMEGA Aqua Terra 2503.33 / HAMILTON Field Khaki
Seiko: SRP775 Turtle Reissue / 6139-6002 "Pogue" (blue dial) / 6106 Sea Lion / Orange Monster
Others: OMEGA 1959 cal. 500 Seamaster / RAYMOND WEIL Othello / LONGINES Tank c. 1940s (currently on the wrist of my lady-friend)

Some really cool designs, but I'm going to pass.

I haven't yet decided if I'm annoyed by all these kickstarter watch companies that have been popping up, or if I'm thrilled about all the potential new merchandise. On one hand I want to root for the little guys and hope they make it on their own two feet before ETA makes them obsolete. On the other, I think come on...this has gotta be a scam, right?
I've spent my money on women, whisky and watches. The rest I just wasted.

I like the designs a lot...but in this style of watch, mechanical is a must for me. I would be in for twice the price for a mechanical.

Omega Speedmaster 3513.33, Breitling Colt A17350, Orient Enduro (red dial), Vintage Oris, Longines, and Wittnauer (not sure on exact details), Bulova 96A120 BVA, Citizen Calibre 8700 (the daily grinder)

Underwhelming. Skagen offers interesting minimalist designs at a lower price. The remaining designs are certainly unique.

Aristo Modern Art is pretty similar at $340, but there's an ETA auto inside:

My first thought was CWard Malvern, then RLT England, then sextant
