What would you buy and why.
What would you buy and why.
I would want a beater, a dress watch, a chronograph, a (nice) diver and an explorer type.
Beater - Seiko SKX007. Classic, plenty of fun to be had changing straps. Will keep going for years.
Dress - Nomos Club 36. I love my RW open balance, but this would be a winner and saves a little for the next three. Allows one German watch into the collection.
Chronograph - Omega Speedmaster. Forum favourite, history, general awesomeness.
Nice diver - Tudor Pelagos. Just a beautiful watch.
Explorer type - Frederique Constant Worldtimer. Something different, beautiful design, new world watchmaker.
Should be able to get all that for $10k, mixture of new and preowned.
I wouldn't. In my opinion $10k over 5 watches would get you a lot of mediocre stuff that I'm not a fan of.
I'd buy a 16600 Sea Dweller and a Protrek so these two:

I could do my ideal 3 watch rotation for UK£ 10,000 quite easily, but not five.
The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom
I love these games.
I could probably do it about fifty different ways but I'll go with what's on my mind right now:
Chopard Mille Miglia - the model I want is around $3,500
Nomos Tangente 38 Datum - I think it's around $2,500
Ball Engineer Master II Diver - $2,000
Vintage Zodiac Astrographic SST - $600
Vintage Jaeger LeCoultre Kal 463 WWII issue - ~$1,000
Remainder: as many straps as it can buy.
Oris Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 111 | Nomos Club Neomatik | Ball Trainmaster Worldtime chrono | Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer | Bulova Sea King
A Sub, a Speedy, an Orient Dress watch, and two G-Shocks. Covers all occasions ...
My little friends:
Casio G-Shock GW-5000
Casio G-Shock GD-350
Casio G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400
Omega Speedmaster PRO
Orient Star Classic
Seiko 007 Diver
Seiko Turtle Diver
Seiko SARB 021
Seiko 7A28 Chrono
And a few other fun watches ...
I would get two watches - a Rolex sports model and a Panerai.
Here's four, totaling (roughly) 3500. What single watch should I think about for another $6k?
(not pictured are some vintage pieces like my dad's and granddads' watches)
Given $10k, I would be tempted to save another $2k and buy a used AP Diver. I guess if you have to have 5 watches I would buy the following:
(all preowned, with approximate values)
Rolex 16570 Explorer II- $4000 (black dial, I like the old tritium/lug hole models). I know some people would blow most of the $10k on one SS Rolex, but this happens to be my favorite SS Rolex.
Tudor Black Bay Black - $2600
Speedmaster Pro - $2900
SKX007 - $200
Seiko Cocktail Time - $300
Lately I've been taking an extra long hard look at the Explorer I and wondering if it is really worth $6,000 to me.
Option 1: with Explorer I
