Question I bought a used Certina DS watch which says N2 on the dial, but seems to be in a N1 case

    Hello,

A couple days ago i bought a used Certina quartz watch where it seems that the dial and the rest of the watch does not match. On the dial itself it says DS N2, but a quick google search leads me to believe that the casing is from the prior N1 model. I'm trying to figure out the reason for this. It seems to be a lot of trouble to modify a watch like that yourself, could it be a transition model where older parts gets used? I am completely lost here, as well as in the world of watches altogether. I really like the watch though, and am interested in getting to know more about it.

Here is the info i managed to find on and in the casing:
    184 7000 41
    71082
    ch 2540 Grenchen

It should be from around 1980 (?) and the designer is Roger Tallon.

I would love getting some help in understanding and getting to know this watch a little bit better!

Certina may be able to help you. Try contacting them through the website. On a 40 year old model I my first reaction is a marriage of parts from worn watches to create one good one. If you like the result and the price reflects a marriage then enjoy it.

    Welcome to Watchuseek.

That could be it. What is a price that would reflect that type of clock would you say? I sent a message to Certina, we'll see where that brings us!

IF the components are actually swapped most watch collectors would pass unless they needed parts.
